How to install Solar panels using a Telescopic ladder and save up to £2000

More and more homes in the United Kingdom are getting solar panels fitted on their roof every year, saving the average household over £1000 a year on gas and electricity bills. In the UK alone there will be over 500,000 houses with these solar panels, but unfortunately you will need to have them installed for an average of 4 years before you start seeing a saving in your money, because these things can cost up to £4000 to buy and another £2000 to install.

If your like me and want to save every penny possible, then i suggest you read this guide, because it saved me over £2000 in fitting the solar panels. Firstly your going to need to buy the actual panels, i suggest you contact your local council to receive a permit, one you get a permit its really easy to install.

If your looking to buy a good quality solar panel kit, take a look inside you local B&Q store or visit a solar panel expert to see what fits your roof shape best. Take a look at the picture below to decide what your roof shape is.

If you lucky enough like me and have a Mansard roof shape, then your going to save alot of money as its the easiest roof to build solar panels onto, all you will need is a quality telescopic ladder, your solar panels (of course) and some panel holders (optional but a good idea in case a section breaks so you can replace it easily).

The reason why i suggest you use a telescopic ladder is because you will need to be at the very edge of the roof and not an inch over it, or else you will struggle to install the panels at the edge, this is where the telescopic ladder becomes very useful because you can easily adjust the height to your roofs specification as seen from the picture below:

For my house, i purchased a 3.8 meter ladder, which was enough to reach the top of my roof but you may need a longer one, but don't worry you can easily find one that can go up to 6 meters high!

Once you get the placements in place on the roof, its very simple to install the panels onto, saving you even more money without the need of an over priced 'engineer' to fit them in for you.

Hope this helps as saves you money!
